Dubai is renowned for being home to a number of architectural wonders of the modern world. Here are 6 of the structurally interesting skyscrapers in the Dubai skyline.

Burj Khalifa

This is the tallest building and the tallest free-standing structure in the world. It is 828 meters high and is the Dubai Downtown district’s major landmark. It has 163 floors which is the highest number of floors of any building in the world.  It has the world’s highest observation deck and the longest elevator track.

It is 321m tall. It is located on a man-made island 280m offshore of Jumeirah beach. It is accessed via a bridge road that is 340m long. The structure is designed to resemble the sail of a ship. It has a helipad near the roof at a height of 210m above the ground. It houses the most luxurious hotel which is the only one to achieve a seven-star rating.

Marina 101

This is currently the second tallest building in Dubai after the Burj Khalifa. It is located in Dubai Marina District. It is 427m tall and has 101 floors. The first 33 floors are used as a 5-star hotel and the upper section consists of residential apartments and penthouses. The building has a total of 29 elevators that range from low-speed service elevators to high-speed passenger lifts.

Princess Tower

This tower is the tallest residential building in the world located in Dubai Marina. It is 414m tall and features 101 floors with 763 units of 1 to 5-bedroom apartments and penthouses. There are a total of 13 high-speed elevators. It has an observation deck on the 97th floor. The skyscraper offers a scenic view of Dubai’s coastline as well as the Dubai Eye on Bluewaters Island. The apartments that are located on the high floors have wind detection systems that close sliding doors automatically during very high winds.

Cayan Tower is a 75-story structure that completes a full turn of 90 degrees along the course of its height. It protects interior spaces from direct sunlight and minimizes the structural impact of strong winds. It stands out in the skyline of Dubai Marina.

This is the world’s tallest hotel.  It is a 72-story, iconic twin tower which is 355m tall each located in Business Bay. The structure was inspired by the date tree, an important symbol in Arab culture. It offers a good view of almost the entire Dubai skyline.
